Regional conferences promote the widespread application of solar energy technology. To steer development for all countries in a sustainable direction it is vital to strongly emphasize the application of solar energy within overall development strategies. Positive research results, successful marketing strategies and new, economically viable products are more likely to be quickly achieved and widely distributed in an environment where the exchange of information and experience is fully realised. ISES sees itself in this context as a focal point, providing a network within which different groups can exchange knowledge and obtain technical and scientific expertise.

EuroSun 2020 - it's a wrap!
Over 200 hundred attendees from countries all around the world attended the first-ever virtual EuroSun 2020 and the three conference days were packed with state of the art scientific presentations on the conference's 13 conference topics, networking sessions, workshops and more.
EuroSun 2020 offered a platform to discuss the latest developments with leading solar energy experts as well as policymakers and industry representatives. The programme included distinguished keynote speakers in plenary sessions, specialists meetings in breakout sessions and poster exhibitions as well as social events with the opportunity to network, meet old friends and to make new ones.
The Conference was organized by ISES in cooperation with the Cyprus University of Technology, the University of West Attica and supported by the IEA Solar Heating and Cooling Programme.

It is our great pleasure to invite you to EuroSun 2018 in Rapperswil, Switzerland.
This year’s conference will be held on the beautiful campus of the HSR University of Applied Science Rapperswil on Lake Zürich.
The worldwide success of renewable energy technologies, and solar energy in particular, is remarkable, and it is what we all work for. In many cases solar technologies are already the most economical way to produce electricity or heat. But there is still a very long way to go to achieve the goal of a 100% renewable energy supply. Efficiencies must improve and the costs of components and services must be reduced further. We need a shift to thinking in terms of systems and a better understanding of the interaction of the electricity, heat and mobility sectors.
In the last few years we have seen a growing competition between solar thermal technologies and solar electricity in the heating sector. It is not yet clear where that competition will lead us. Most certainly our future energy system will have a higher grade of electrification. On the other hand it seems likely that energy systems will be more stable and more efficient if a variety of technologies complement each other.
The EuroSun conferences focus on Solar Energy for Buildings and Industry, covering both, heat and electricity.
We are pleased to announce that the EuroSun 2018 will be organized in cooperation with the Swissolar Solar Heating Conference, the 2nd SIGES Conference on the Simulation of Energy Systems for Buildings and the 8th International Conference on Solar Air Conditioning.
EuroSun 2018 will offer a platform to discuss the latest developments with leading solar energy experts as well as policy makers and industry representatives. The programme will include distinguished keynote speakers in plenary sessions, specialists meetings in breakout sessions and poster exhibitions as well as social events where you will have the opportunity to network, meet old friends and to make new ones.
For three days the campus of HSR in Rapperswil will host the “who ‘s who” in solar energy for buildings and industry. We look forward to welcoming you there for EuroSun 2018.

Welcome message from the organizing committee: The Paris Agreement in COP21 is the agreement applicable to all participants of parties for the first time in history and serves as a turning point with an eye toward a decarbonized society. Under the Agreement, the greenhouse gas emissions are to be reduced dramatically to almost zero by the end of this century. With this long-term goal in the Paris Agreement, it is important for us to accelerate strategic efforts and initiatives carbon emission reduction in energy demand and supply.
The practical challenge to achieve is low- carbonization of energy supply, energy conversion, and energy conservation including smart integration of renewable energy in maximum both in supply and demand sides. Financial strategy, policy initiatives and advanced technology development must be associated with them. Intelligence and cutting edge technology are indispensable in the fields of electricity, electronics, mechanics, physics, chemicals, biology, architecture, civil, mathematics, meteorology, sociology, systems, finance, and integrated management. We have great expectation and feel glad to have discussion about these crucial issues through the 900 papers’ presentation covering 12 areas of renewable energies. Plenary session by the invited speakers, more than 15 experts, from all over the world are also programmed. International exhibition is held in parallel. Solar energy and solar buildings are fundamental pillars to achieving a transition to a renewable energy society. While Europe is 6 years from 2020 when the binding targets of the 3x20 will be evaluated, technologies under development today should be common place in this horizon.
To bring light to the latest developments, the scientific and organizing committees invited scientists, engineerings and policy makers to Aix les Bains, France to participate in EuroSun 2014, a European solar energy conference, organized jointly by ISES Europe and INES.

ISES Asia Pacific 2014 - Grand Renewable Energy Conference & Exhibition

The importance of the renewable energy technology has been growing significantly since the beginning of the 21st century and will continue throughout this century.
The Grand Renewable Energy 2014 (GRE2014) international conference, which follows the two conferences of RE2006 and RE 2010 was held in Japan. The Organizing Committee carried out extensive activities for the success of GRE2014 with our continuous slogan "Advanced Technology Paths to Global Sustainability". Many prominent experts and organizations concerned with renewable energy participated in the committee, in the fields of academia, industry, and government, not only in Japan but also from the various countries of the world.
Expectations have been growing worldwide for renewable energy technologies as a solution for energy and global environment issues; issues projected to become more evident and serious during the 21st century. According to some long-term projections, renewable energy may satisfy half of the worlds energy needs by 2050. This would put renewable energy on the same level of importance as conventional energy. Moreover, more aggressive forecasts predict that renewable energy might supply two-thirds of the worlds energy by 2100.
We, the specialists involved in the field of renewable energy technologies today, should accept this challenge and respond to these ambitious targets this century. Doing so will influence our direction and quality of life in the future. Knowing that renewable energy is a peaceful energy resource present everywhere on earth should inspire us to further its development and dissemination. At this important time in history, you are invited to contribute to the progress of renewable energy technologies. This conference was a joint event organized together with the International Solar Energy Society-Asia Pacific.

Rijeka and Opatija are neighboring cities in the unique location on the coast of Croatia, famous for its rich cultural heritage and technical history.
