Key findings from the Renewables 2016 Global Status Report

In 2015 the solar PV market saw a 25% increase over 2014 levels to reach a record 50 GW lifting the global PV total to 227 GW.  Solar hot water capacity increased as well with an end of year total of 435 GWth. The webinar will begin with an overview of REN21’s newly released Renewables 2016 Global Status Report and will then look at the expanding role of solar in the power and heating and cooling sector.

Christine Lins, Executive Secretary of REN21 will highlight the latest data on solar energy technologies, investment and policies. ISES President Dr. David Renné moderates this webinar and brings in participants questions throughout.

Christine Lins

Christine Lins was appointed as Executive Secretary of REN21, the Renewable Energy Policy Network of the 21st Century, in July 2011. REN21 is a global public-private multi-stakeholder network on renewable energy, headquartered at UNEP, the United Nations Environment Programme in Paris/France. Between 2001 and 2011, Ms. Lins served as Secretary General of the European Renewable Energy Council, the united voice of Europe’s renewable energy industry in Brussels. Previously, she worked in a regional energy agency in Austria promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

Dr. David Renné

Dr. David Renné President of the International Solar Energy Society since 2010 and Associate Editor of the Solar Energy Journal in the field of solar resource assessment, Dr. Renné is also the Operating Agent of International Energy Agency Solar Heating and Cooling Programme Task 46 titled, “Solar Resource Assessment and Forecasting.”
