Rural Energy Supply Models (RESuM)
In developing countries, reliable and affordable energy supply is crucial in the context of economic development and as a measure against poverty. Within the CSD framework, there is a general consensus on the importance of improving the energy infrastructure on a sustainable basis - i.e., providing better access to locally available energy sources through implementation of regional energy concepts.
The project "Rural Energy Supply Models (RESuM)" provides a qualified tool as a guide for governments, business, experts and financing organisations. It is intended to help bridge remaining knowledge gaps on suitable models for energy supply in rural areas. By presenting best practices in a structured format, this tool offers valuable support in the preparation of future projects for rural power supply using renewable energy.
An integrated internet platform has been established for the presentation of results of the RESuM project. This tool also enables users from developing countries to participate in the global debate, allowing them to exchange and discuss ideas and cooperate in their realisation.
