5. FIDE SealFor end-users it is quite often rather difficult to identify products that have a high level of energy efficiency. For this reason, the FIDE seal was created, identifying products with outstanding electric energy saving properties.
The seal is a voluntary identification of products which have been proven to have an exceptionally low energy consumption. They are further proven to have a high reliability and quality. The seal not only serves to identify energy efficient products, but also to raise conscience of the general public for energy efficiency issues when shopping. So far, the seal has been given to 6 different types of equipment: Electric motors, illumination equipment like CFL, high pressure lamps, etc., domestic applications like refrigerators, air conditioning, washing machines, water pumping systems, energy saving equipment like motion detectors, and air compressors. FIDE realises a campaign to make products and the seal known to consumers, and to motivate them to buy the respective products. Manufacturers can also use the seal for promotional purposes. Users can reduce their electricity consumption and they may make use of financing incentives offered by FIDE for buying products with a seal. Currently, 21 companies have been awarded the FIDE seal for 2041 equipment types. |
